Chapter Nine
Morgan reminded herself that what she saw outside her Grammyâs kitchen window was not what she wanted. Nope. Not at all.
Only, seeing Andrew chasing Greyson across the yard, grabbing her son around his waist and spinning him in the air as he made a âtackleâ might be exactly what she wanted. Greyson looked so happy. She didnât have to be able to hear him to know that heâd sound happy, too. She could see his giggles.
âI know you told me there was nothing between you and Andrew, but maybe you should reconsider.â
Morganâs gaze shot to her grandmotherâs and she sighed. âGreyson sure thinks he hung the moon.â
âAnd you?â
âGet that look off your face, Grammy,â she warned. âRegardless of what I think of Andrew, neither of us is looking for a relationship.â
âToo bad because we think you make a wonderful couple.â
Morgan frowned. âYouâve talked to Grampy about me and Andrew?â
âNot Grampy. Heâd say I should mind my own business,â Grammy rolled her eyes. âI meant me and the Butterflies.â
Well, that was no surprise.
âRuby wasnât that subtle this morning in church when she kept turning around and smiling at us, was she?â
Grammy Claudia laughed. âNo, but Butterflies can be subtle when needed.â
âTheyâve been known to stampede when they feel itâs needed, as well.â
Grammy laughed. âOur reputation precedes us, I see.â
âMommy!â
Panic hit when she heard Greyson yelling for her as he rushed into the kitchen and came to a halt a few feet from her. As soon as she saw his face and uninjured body, she calmed. That was excited rushing, not the result of fear or injury. It dropped her into the same panic either way, though, until she was able to confirm that nothing was wrong.
âWhat are the rules about running indoors?â she asked.
His face scrunched up and he shot his great-grandmother an apologetic look. âSorry, Grammy, but Mommy, can I sit on Andrewâs motorcycle?â
Morganâs eyes widened. âSit on it?â
âHe doesnât have an extra helmet with him so he said he wouldnât take me for a ride even if you said yes.â
Morganâs stomach twisted into a pretzel. She was glad Andrew had laid down the law on that pointâbut the fact that heâd had to still scared her, because it meant Greyson had been pushing it. âYou asked Andrew to take you for a ride?â
Face glowing with excitement, Greyson nodded. âHe said Big Bertha is a moody girlââhe giggled as if that was the funniest thing heâd ever heardââbut that I could sit on her if I promised to follow the rules.â
âWhat are the rules?â she gulped.
âThat I can only touch what he says I can touch.â
âThatâs a good rule.â But Morgan still wanted to say no.
Andrew walked into the kitchen. His eyes immediately sought hers.
She frowned. âAlready tempting my son over to the wild side, I hear.â
âI wonât be wild, Mommy,â Greyson promised.
Greysonâs assurance plagued her conscience. She didnât want him on a motorcycle. She wanted to keep him safe and didnât that mean saying no to some things
